How we can help

Kolam, ready for your children

Two programmes, one promise: every child draws a complete kolam, every session — with everything a teacher or volunteer needs, ready-made.

For schools

A festival-season programme for kindergarten

  • 8 weeks, one period a week — August through Ganesh Chaturthi, timed so the finale lands on the festival.
  • One full kolam every week — starting simple, growing with each child's pace.
  • Real KG outcomes — fine-motor control for pre-writing, focus and calm, early pattern-and-symmetry thinking, cultural roots.
  • A certificate every week — small, steady encouragement.
  • A festival finale — children draw for the school celebration; parents see what little hands have learned.

What we bring: step-by-step animated decks (any teacher can run them — no kolam experience needed), practice boards and chalk, take-home cards, certificates, and a short teacher orientation.

What we ask: one period a week, a classroom with a screen, and a teacher to facilitate.

Flexible formats: the full 8-week journey, a festival fortnight, or a single taster session with one class.

For apartment communities

A weekend series for the children of your building

  • 8 Saturday mornings — about an hour each, in your community hall.
  • Co-led with residents — the mothers and grandmothers who have drawn kolam all their lives, teaching alongside us.
  • One kolam a week, a certificate a week — visible progress children (and parents) can hold.
  • Mess-free — boards and chalk indoors; rangoli colours only for the finale.
  • A shared finale — every child's kolam becomes part of one beautiful entrance rangoli.

What we bring: the decks, boards, chalk, take-home cards, certificates, posters, and a simple signup — the whole kit.

What we ask: the community hall for an hour a week, and a note of welcome from your association.

Capped small so every child gets attention.

A typical session

Thirty joyful minutes

5 min

A one-line story

Why kolam is drawn — welcome, fresh starts, feeding the ants.

10 min

Watch it build

The week's kolam draws itself on screen, one stroke at a time.

20 min

Little hands draw

Every child draws the same kolam on a practice board with chalk.

5 min

Take it home

A practice card goes home — many children draw again at their doorstep.

“Give us forty minutes with one class.
If the children light up, we take it from there.”

Whether you lead a school, an apartment association, or simply love the idea — write to us. A demo session is the easiest way to see it: children, chalk, and one beautiful kolam.
